Indian Summer Revisit Session

Image
Tuesday 28th April 2015 Session Review During this practical work session, I am currently creating a new improved version of my previous Indian summer film Poster. Lady Edwina Mountbatten drawing reference Overall the composition of the new poster is more even since I had to resort to a ruler making sure both men enough space on the poster; however, I made a rash decision of immediately inking the film title and did not have enough space for the R so I will have to cut the upper half off the film which features the artwork and paste on a new a3 sheet of paper and this time making sure the text is evenly spaced out before the final submission. Pukka Pies Re-invention Session 2

Tuesday 21st April 2015 Session Review Following on from the previous Pukka pie session, I continued to sketch different typography fonts and continue my secondary research on Pukka Pies the company. During the time I browsed through the website I came across their news page detailing all of the companies recent activity and I noticed that they had appeared to sponsor quite a few local sports teams from Leicestershire or sports events such s the 2009 World Snooker Championship. Additionally, they also awarded prizes to the best chip shops around the United Kingdom likely for their level of service and possibly whether they are able to sell a large quantity of pukka pies since most chip shops feature them inside. Also, Pukka Pies would be sponsoring the television show Friends on Comedy Central and because of this new sponsorship they produced a series of short advertisements of four friends eating various pukka pies; furthermore, after reading of this newfound information it woul...

Project Data Loss and Recovery

Tuesday 21st April 2015 Session Review Previously last week Friday I had lost my USB stick containing almost all of my university, college and personal projects; however, thankfully my university files were scattered around and saved on multiple MAC computers in the Digital Arts Centre. So my first action before purchasing my new USB stick was to compress all of my animation folders and store them in my email account which was a wise course of action. Also my personal work was saved on my home desktop and as for the college work that is missing which is my 3d models and animations I have contacted a friend who is still attending south Birmingham college and will transfer my l still left on my college computer to my email. Overall at this point despite it being a slap in the face I am used to this cycle of losing my past work which it seems once I finish once set of education the work is submitted but the majority of work I possess is discarded laving me only with wok that stra...

Pukka Pies Re-invention Session 1

Tuesday 14th April 2015 last updated at 3:40pm Session Review At the beginning of the lecture my lecturer had given the class and I our final project brief which was definitely most interesting. Gorrilaz CD Cover Revisit

Image
Monday 13th April 2015 Session Review I have revisited my Gorillaz CD cover and I making small edits such as applying shading to their cloths to add a layer of depth and I want darker colours to appropriately interrupt the gritty, grunge theme I am attempting to portray. Furthermore, I made improvements to the typography on the back cover and rotated the tracklist and then wrote the bands name roughly with photoshops paintbrush. The reason for me creating typography with the paintbrush was to add more of the rough, graffiti feel to the cd cover. I also managed to find the European cd cover variant from a website named ww.vblurpage.com. This was a relief because the cd information and publisher symbol was there and finally applied a layer of authenticates to my cd cover; however, as I forcefully made efforts to adjust and fit the information amongst the other artwork and typography on the back cover, eventually I came to the conclusion that there was to much information and decide...

Timed Brief Project:Blue Shor

Session Review After completing the Gorrilaz CD cover my lecturer presented the class and I with a timed two-hour brief. Overall this went well after first thinking it said blue shore it was an actual blue shoe and I drew waves then refined it into a shoe with a wave. and a colleague gave an excellent critical service. CD Cover Design Final Session

Tuesday 24th February 2015 Session Review I have begun to draw and ink the final hand rendering for my Gorrilaz CD cover. My first use of visual reference as to watch the music video for the song Dirty Harry from the album Demon Days and capture screenshots of the four band members Murdoc, 2d, Russel and Noodle. Overall I am truly satisfied with the final hand rendered results and look forward to colouring the drawing digitally once scanned to the computer on campus. CD Cover Design Session 1

Tuesday 16th February 2015 Session Review I have begun to undertake some secondary research on some the artists that were provided in the class brief; however, I wrote down  list of some of my favorite artists that I believe will be also visually intriguing to draw. The album that I believed had the most potential was albums such as Electric Lady and Are You Experienced from The Jimi Hendrix Experience because the songs featured i that albums could be used as an influential reference in the overall album design. Songs from the track such as Purple Haze and All Along The Watch Tower. Book Cover Cover Session 2

Friday 6th March 2015 Session Review  Today I undertow some secondary research on the selection of books available for the penguin books award competition. Furthermore, I read the brief in detail and wrote down key information such as the books, deadline date and entry requirements. I then watched a video to the winners of 2014 provided by the penguin site. I then proceeded to go the author Jeanette Winterson's website and do additionally background research on her and I discovered that the book Oranges are the not her only fruit is similar to her own experiences growing up in a Christian household. Comparing two posters from History Session 3

Infographics Task Final Session

Tuesday 24th February 2015 Session Review In the events of todays session I have drawn the final hand rendered infographic poster;however, I had to browse through the internet for additional reference images. Once the class session had begun the class and I took it in turns to discuss and display each one of our hand rendered infogtaphic poster. Once it was time to display my own poster the feedback I received was truthful stating I have to work on m¥ composition which is a recurring piece of advice that has followed me since my studies in college for art or design based tasks. Infographics Task Session Three

Sunday 21st February 2015 Session Review During today's session I have returned to browsing the internet for reliable survey results conducted by organizations. So far I have found a survey by scholastic on school uniforms. Nevertheless, after having to browse with key words such as "most popular" I was able to find an Australian survey from 2013 of students most popular fruit and vegetable. Comparing two posters from History Session 2

Friday 20th February 2015 Session Review After struggling to find further topics to discuss in my essay I talked to fellow classmates and my lecturer to gain some advice and insight in topics they had discussed. This was worthwhile because they informed me that they had talked about the designers of the poster or discussed the history of poster and advertisement. I have decided to research the history of posters and its role in the advertisement since it may be more relevant to my essay so long as history is brief. I have also discovered so online articles and observed their design and layouts. Infographics Task Session Two

Tuesday 17th February 2015 Session Review During todays session I continued to research what infographics are and attempted to build a collection of reliable sources of data  and other information that have the potential to visually interoperated. I had discovered a reliable source that defined and explained the purpose of infographics. Furthermore, from what I have read infographics must be a visual device used to educate and inform its audiences. It is common knowledge that the majority of infographic posters usually avoid the use of white backgrounds and similar to a presentation minimal text is used. Photograph Task 3

Tuesday 3rd February 2015 Session Review Last night i browsed through the collection of photographs I managed to capture on my phone and selected 3 that in my opinion were suitable for elements of fantasy to included. My favorite in particular was the black and white photograph of the swamp I photographed near my home back in Birmingham and observing the image I immediately thought of the watcher (kraken) from the lord of the rings fellowship of the ring that attacked the fellowship outside the gates of Moria. So I proceeded to browse through google images of kraken sketches and I discovered two that were excellant references for drawing the tentacles. However, unfortunately I was not able to print the swamp photograph in A3 so I proceeded to print in the standard A4 size and stick the image over my kraken sketch in charcoal. Before the final submission of coursework I will have to possibly print the photograph again in A3 at the university. By Sebastian Jones

Photograph Task 2

Session Review Today's session was satisfactory as I traveled to the jewelry quarter in Birmingham city centre and captureed two photographs of a tower at a graveyard they way the tower looks I could draw the top half of the twoer as a chess puiece head. The other photograph I manged to capture was of two large trees that stood opposite each other and resembled a star gate or mystical portal to me so I could could cut out the space between the trees and draw a portal shoud I choose to print these partuclar image. By Sebastian Jones

Photograph Task 1

Session Review As I ventured to the Birmingham city centre I traveled around and photographed some pictures of the St Annes church and another old gothic church. The photographs for the hcurch once a cetiain section is cut out could be replaced with hand drawn bats to make it seem like a vampiric building. By Sebastian Jones

Comparing two posters from History Session 1

Image
Monday 19th January 2915 Session Review Figure A Today I have created a basic structure for my essay on comparing two posters from history. I have chosen to study to propaganda posters from different eras , the first being a world war one recruitment poster titled "Britain needs you at once" (figure a) and the second one ???. I have managed to find some reliable sources of information on the internet as a start and heeded what my tutor Andy Davidson said about looking for academic websites  containing .edu , .gov  or org at the end. Lawyer and Bar Logo Design Final Session

Tuesday 13th January 2015 Session Review It has been some time since I have written another production log for this module; however, during the Christmas holiday period I continued to sketch additional ideas for the fluffy baks lawyer firm logo. It would seem my continued research into ancient deities has paid off since I have found the great Egyptian goddess Ma'at and used her symbol of the feather for fluffy banks. Since the feather would be fluffy but stands for a symbol of order and law. I have also prepared two A3 display folders for all of my current final design work and for the supporting research pieces.
